The old system for rating and ranking items proved to be pretty worthless. This time I rebuilt it from the ground up using a similar logic to IMDb. It uses a weighted arithmetic mean for finding the averages. The weights use a combination of voting trends and hits to limit the impact of people just voting 9-10 for movies they like and 1-2 for movies they hate. The goal is to get an idea what people really think. For obvious reasons I'm not going to disclose the methods used but it won’t allow multi votes for one item ever and your past voting habits will change your weight on the system. It’s not very extreme right now but will change as more and more votes are entered. Right now its only displaying the arithmetic means once I get a few hundred votes I can tweak the trends and display the true weighted averages. Far as the overall rankings they are a combination of score, hits and over all average. It’s not perfect and an I have to run the app to rank them by hand so for now they will not always be perfect till I think of a better way.

To vote simply roll your mouse over the star (1=low 10=high) and click. The action is done in the background and the page will not reload but stay selected after you rolloff.
