Summary

Shakespeare's classic tale of romance and tragedy. Two families of Verona, the Montagues and the Capulets, have been feuding with each other for years. Young Romeo Montague goes out with his friends to make trouble at a party the Capulets are hosting, but while there he spies the Capulet's daughter Juliet, and falls hopelessly in love with her. She returns his affections, but they both know that their families will never allow them to follow their hearts.

The DEFINITIVE "R&J" For All Time!!
by hamletmusketeersbond from Yahoo, Apr 15, 2005

Franco Zeffirelli's "Romeo And Juliet" is famous mostly because it was the first adaptation of this tragedy to cast young actors (teenagers) in the title roles, so the angst between them and their families is more palpable than if grown-up actors had played "Juliet and her Romeo." It is the BEST version of the tragedy. Sir Laurence Olivier ("Henry V," "Hamlet," "Richard III," etc), a respected and legendary actor in his own right, has an uncredited role as the Narrator. The acting was excellent (Olivia was HOT!!).

See THIS great version BEFORE seeing any other.
