Summary
A young, unhappy girl named Susan realizes that the elevator in her Philadelphia apartment building works better as a time machine than it ever did as an elevator. She ends up going back to the 19th century and meeting a girl her age who is even more unhappy than she is. With the help of her brother, Susan manages to help this girl, as well as many others as Susan changes others' lives as well as her own by traveling through time.
